Flagstaff Square was our first project in the Eastern Cape. Set in the foothill mountains between Kokstad and Lusisiki, it presented an opportunity to get back to work post Covid-19. We had to find our own water source through boreholes drilled on site due to a lack of adequate municipal water. We also set up the first commercial-scale concrete batch plant on the site for the project, which used 50 000 – 60 000 liters daily to cast concrete slabs. The centre has a GLA of 10 500 meters squared, double storey. Although the climate and rainfall had an impact, we completed the project on time.
