In a shining example of what coordinated teamwork and dedicated planning can achieve, Mike Buyskes Construction has successfully completed the construction of a 4,500m² GLA retail centre, which officially opened its doors for trade on 27 March 2025 — a significant achievement considering both the scope and the challenges faced along the way.

The construction, which began on 12 July 2024, marks the latest addition to Abcon’s growing portfolio of high-quality commercial developments. Despite facing above-average rainfall during the first quarter of 2025, as well as the challenge of delivering a premium retail centre within a condensed program, the project was completed to the highest standards and within schedule.

The Waterfall Walk development brings a vibrant mix of national tenants to the area, including Woolworths, Woolworths Café, Clicks, Bakehouse, Malt, and Kauai  – ensuring a diverse and upmarket shopping and dining experience for the local community.

The centre is designed with both aesthetics and efficiency in mind, offering modern architectural features, ample parking, and sustainable infrastructure to support long-term operational success.

Project managers and contractors worked under pressure as persistent rain in early 2025 threatened key construction milestones. However, a combination of agile planning, extended working hours, and close coordination on-site ensured the Mike Buyskes Construction and its subcontractors team pushed through the delays and delivered on Abcon’s vision.

This successful delivery reflects Mike Buyskes Construction’s commitment to excellence and its ability to drive developments that meet both commercial and community needs. It also underscores the importance of adaptive project management in navigating environmental and logistical challenges.

With its strong tenant mix and high-quality design, the new retail centre has become a key economic and social hub for the area.
